Async interviews are a great way to help you conduct fewer but better live interviews by having candidates complete an async interview first. This could help you put a face to the name and get an understanding of a candidate’s communication style.

How it works:

  • Candidates can record answers to up to 3 interview questions

  • Each video answer they record can be up to two minutes long

  • Candidates have the option to retake an answer if they want to, but they have to stay within the total time limit of 21 minutes

Upon starting the test, candidates have the option to complete a practice test in order to get accustomed to the interface and feel more comfortable during the real interview.

You will then be able to watch these async interviews in your own pace, rate the answers and add notes to discuss with your team.

To set up an async interview:

Click on the + button in the pipeline stage you want to add it to -> Select "Test" -> Choose Async interview.

Browse the templates and choose the one that works for the role, or create your test from scratch by clicking on "Create a custom test".

Customizing the async interview

1. Test questions - you can add a maximum of 3 video interview questions. If the test was generated from a template, the questions will be related to the skills for that template. You are able to edit or delete the questions. If you delete a question, you can then add another one from our library or by creating your own.

2. Intro – make the test personal by recording a short intro video about the position and company that candidates will see before starting the test. To record an introductory video simply click on ‘Record Video’ > Allow access to your mic and camera > click record > when finished, click on stop recording > replay the video and either retake or save.

3. Landing page – the candidate will be presented with this page when they click on your link. Review and edit as necessary.

4. Test results page – all candidates will see this page upon completion of the test. Review and edit as necessary.

5. Test settings - here you can add a title for the Async Interview test.

Now it's time to invite candidates to complete their video intro and review their responses as they roll in.
